Adam Morales saw animals in driftwood. He collected pieces on the water — some basically at his front door. Rather than whittle, he used the pieces as God sent them and used a few screws and a bit of paint and glue to make his creations.
Adam died in 2019. His bigger pieces will be displayed at the Pierre Part/Belle River Museum when it opens. The other pieces, like his popular owls and his king and queen chairs, are for sale. His legacy as “The Last Moss Man” and “Driftwood Man” lives on in the swamps of the Atchafalaya.
