Holy Mary Shrine

Joffery J. Cochennic, Sr, saw the Blessed Mother while praying at Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Praying the the statues, he raised his head and Mary was standing where the statues had been. He describes her beauty as indescribable with deep blue eyes. After thanking God for the experience, he looked back up and the statues were back.

This experience in 1974 inspired him to build a shrine to her in Grand Meadow near his home. Her likeness is carved out of a red cypress tree. Each year since 1981, the shrine is blessed by the area Bishop when he comes out for the annual shrimp boat blessing.
