I went to the crossroad, fell down on my knees

Robert Johnson was a musician/song writer from Mississippi who had a short but influential life. 29 tracks survive from his life, but  few details about the man survive. The mystery around his life helped many legends to pop up with his name attached. The most famous is that he sold his soul to the devil.

Legend says that he wanted to become a great musician and was told to take his guitar to the crossroads at midnight. The devil met him and tuned his guitar and handed it back with the mastery of the instrument.

There are many places that are said to be the crossroad and many ideas as to how this legend began. This particular crossroads is in Clarksdale, MS, and is marked with giant guitars. Besides some tasty BBQ, the town also has many music clubs and the Delta Blues Museum.
